The European Space Agency released a new 20m resolution land cover dataset for Africa. The legend includes 10 classes that describe the land surface, amongst them „trees cover areas“, „shrubs cover areas“, „grassland“, „cropland“, „vegetation aquatic or regularly flooded“, and others. The database promises to be useful tool for risk assessments.
It is based on 1 year of Sentinel-2 A satellite observations from December 2015 to December 2016.
