The „Manual of Digital Earth“, the publication of the International Society for Digital Earth, has been published as open access book by Springer, edited by Huadong Guo, Michael F. Goodchild and Alessandro Annoni.
It offers a summary of the development of Digital Earth over the past twenty years. „Digital Earth“ in this context comprises aspects of digital geo-data collection and processing, i.e., remote sensing and navigation satellites systems, processing and visualizing geospatial information, geospatial data infrastructures (GDI), big data and cloud computing, transformation and zooming, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, etc.
As well the book is intended to show Digital Earth’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals and Climage Change investigations. The ICA Commission on Cartography in Early Warning and Crisis Management contributed to chapter 15.
