Free core data meets open source standards

The Road Network File (RNF), is the first official release from the 2006 Census Geography suite of products and services.
The RNF is a digital representation of Canada&apo;s national road network, containing information such as street name, type, direction
and address ranges.

It is available for download in several formats, including
Geography Markup Language (GML). This
XML-based text format lends itself not only to use in commercial and
open source GIS tools, but also to access using standard XML style
sheets and tools for analysis, visualization and reporting. The GML
standard leverages several modern internet standards and is a key
component of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI).
