Der Springer-Verlag kündigt heute eine neue Online-Zeitschrift an: „Open Geospatial Data, Software and Standards“. Als Herausgeber „Editor-in-Chief“) fungieren Dr. Mohamed Bakillah, University of Heidelberg, Germany, und Prof. Dr. Steve H. L. Liang, University of Calgary, Canada. Steve ist aktiv in OGC und ISPRS.

Dr. Mohamed Bakillah, Editor-in-Chief schreibt dazu:

Open geospatial data is an increasingly important paradigm that offers the opportunity to promote the democratization of geographical information, the transparency of governments and institutions, as well as social, economic and environmental opportunities. Open Geospatial Data, Software and Standards‘ unique feature is to bring together different disciplines that relate to the various forms of open geospatial data, so as to offer a unified view over the related issues and research advances.

Beiträge können eingereicht werden. Für die Leserschaft sind die Beiträge frei erhältlich („Open Access“ und „Creative Commons Attribution license“, aber für Autoren werden wohl Gebühren fällig – wenn man sich in 2015 keines der „Editorial waivers“ ergattert.

Das Journal steht in Konkurrenz zum Online-Journal der OSGeo-Foundation und dem Online-Journal der ISPRS.
